The members of Big Bang made a surprise visit to the exhibition put together by their label, YG Entertainment, and stated, “We want to release a new album this summer and perform as a group.”
On February 21, four members of Big Bang minus T.O.P attracted attention as they visited the “YG Exhibition in Japan,” which took place at the Mitsui Outlet Park Kisarazu in the Chiba Prefecture.
The exhibition showcases performances of YG Entertainment singers, PSY, Big Bang and 2NE1 using a “3-D Live Hologram Theater,” where visitors could enjoy a hologram concert consisting of hologram videos and large-scaled media facades.
Big Bang’s Taeyang recently featured on Japanese duo m-flo’s new album “Future Is Wow” along with other famous Japanese singers. m-flo is a duo made up of VERBAL, an MC, and Taku, a DJ and producer. They will be releasing their 8th album “Future Is Wow” on March 26.
The guest artists participating in the album were revealed on m-flo’s official homepage, including Taeyang, Ah Yoo Mi, and Japanese girl group Flower’s main vocalist Washio Reina, among other talented Japanese artists.
Girls’ Generation members Taeyeon and YoonA showed support for youngest member Seohyun, who has been busy as a musical actress.
On February 18, Taeyeon shared a photo on Instagram with the endearing caption, “I like Seohyun’s voice so much. We’re so proud of you, our youngest. Thank you for showing us a great performance, our baby.”
KBS America and the Los Angeles Korean Association will be joining together to host KBS’ music program, “Open Concert (L.A. K-Pop Festival)” to be held on April 12. It will be the biggest event in its history.
On February 10, KBS America and L.A. Korean Association held a press conference announcing the free “Open Concert” to be held at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on April 12.
The hosts announced the event will be held in celebration of the “111th Anniversary of Koreans in America L.A. K-Pop Festival.”
The concert will begin at 5:30 PM PST and last for about three hours. It will be broadcasted in 88 different countries making it the largest scale event in KBS history. There will be a total of 14 guests including top K-Pop idol groups and singers. So far 2PM, SHINee, Sistar, CNBlue, Dynamic Duo, Girl’s Day, Kim Taewoo, Sul Woondo and Song Sohee have confirmed their attendance to the event.
President Kim Kyung Hee of KBS America stated, “This year’s L.A festival will be held in tribute to the history of Korean immigrants in America. The event was planned to infuse pride to Korean Americans and to create a festival between Korea and the Korean society that is advancing to become mainstream in the world.”
The broadcast of the show will be aired two weeks after the event on April 27 at 5 PM KST on KBS.
The festival will begin at 11 AM PST with various events hosted by the Korean Association including a K-Pop contest. The event will offer a number of events and attractions. President of the L.A. Korean Association Bae Moo Han stated, “We will not be asking for donations from the Korean society for this event. Most of the funds for the event will be funded by KBS.”
YG Entertainment has recently signed an investment contract with one of Korea’s top model company, K Plus.
CEO Yang Min Suk announced, “Our country’s models are receiving attention from around the world as much as K-Pop or Hallyu dramas. We look forward to the potential and possibilities for this field.”
He continued, ” Through the strategic cooperation and investments with the modeling field, our company will be able to become diversified and create a synergy.”
K Plus has been the agency for many top models for the past twenty years including Cha Seung Won and Park Dool Sun. It has been involved with many big name events. Around 170 models are signed with this company at the moment.
Through this alliance, YG is hoping to expand the company. It has also been noticed that YG is expanding their acting management with the recent signing of Cha Seung Won, Jang Hyun Sung and others.
